Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the information used for?
We collate the information we receive from our panellists into reports to determine which brands are selling better across a wide range of markets, from shampoo to milk, chocolates, and feminine care. This information is used by brands and retailers to understand how popular their products are, so they can adjust their marketing strategies accordingly.
What are the items that I should scan?
‘Groceries’ refer to both food and non-food items, including the following: bread, milk, soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, skin creams/lotions, sanitary pads, chocolates, sweets, soft drinks, juices, bottled water, chips, snacks, tea, coffee, canned food, cereals, frozen meat, oats, soup, oil, sauces, honey, housecleaning products, tissues, laundry products (detergents and fabric softener), baby food, baby powder and creams, disposable diapers, pet food and alcohol. Don’t scan unbranded/loose fruits, vegetables, meat and seafood, toys, furniture, electronic items, clothing, stationery items or cigarettes.
How much time will it take to scan every time I shop?
This will depend on the number of products you need to scan in from each shopping trip. For example, your daily shopping for products like milk and bread should only take a few minutes to scan, while it will take a little longer to scan all the items from your weekly and monthly shopping trips.
If all the information is confidential, why do I need to enter my personal details at the recruitment stage?
Personal details such as family size help ensure we cover a good cross-section of all types of households across the country, for inclusion of all family sizes and those with both younger and older family members.
